Nickers and Whinnies – a blog by Pippi

December 27, 2007 Note to my human: I can tell you've been hitting the Christmas cookies pretty hard. Might want to lay off them for a couple days. Don't want you to grow out of your saddle so soon! Snicker, nicker, nicker! |

Hope
you had a nice Christmas. I sure did – Santa and the reindeer stopped
to visit! I was hoping I'd get to help pull the sleigh again but all of
the reindeer were in fine form, so they didn't need my assistance.
Santa did let me go up on the barn roof to say hi to the 'deer. I'd
forgotten how cute Cupid is! We flew next to each other last year, you
know, when I had to take Comet's place. Santa did instruct me to be nicer to the other horses here. I tried to tell him that I'm always nice, but that man sees everything – every kick and squeal. Santa did agree that the other horses do provoke me, though, so I still got a present. Whew! |

From all the horses at Belezaire Farm:
Merry Christmas! We hope you all get plenty of carrots and apples from Santa. And we hope you give them to us. |

December 21, 2007 I'm kinda bummed. I can't play my favorite game, chase the Appaloosa, any longer because Holly's gone. She's got a new home up in Wisconsin and is going to belong to just one kid. We gave her a going-away party this past Saturday night. Kay went out to a human party, so with the boss gone we could be as loud as we wanted. Bok had a little too much apple cider to drink – you should have seen him dance! And Story and I had to keep a close watch on Jax and Taz. They kept trying to steal sips of cider, but they're way too young to drink. Holly seemed very excited to be going, which makes me wonder that maybe she didn't enjoy my game as much as I did. Oh well, be good Holly, enjoy your new home! We'll miss you! |

Cats are really smart. They know how to get their humans to feed them whenever they want. Check out this video: |

Santa and I are very close. I helped pull his sleigh last year (click here to read the story) and
since then, we e-mail all the time. He’s falling behind this year
making toys because the elves went on a cruise and took the whole month
of October off. Seems they negotiated a new contract right after
Christmas last year and Santa didn’t realize the consequences of them
taking that long of a vacation. He thought tanned and rested elves
would be able to work harder, but unfortunately after they got back, it
took them awhile to buckle down and get back into the groove. |

December 11, 2007 What is up with this weather? Ice, freezing rain, sleet – who needs it? Not I. Not you. I don't like it when ice balls form on my eyelashes. Makes it harder to flirt with the geldings. I don't like it when it's slippery out, either. Gets us horses scared to run around. So we just stand and get covered in ice. Guess we turn into horsesicles! Almost makes me wish for fly weather. Well, almost. |

I've got some real sad news to report. Wish I didn't. Prepare yourselves because it's sad.
You
may not have known that Nugget's been sick for a little while because
we were keeping quiet since it was very serious. Well, he didn't make
it, poor guy. All the horses and humans out here feel especially bad
because Nugget was such a sweetie. Not to us horses, but he was to the
humans. And he sure loved his kid Brenna. They grew up together. I
wasn't here when they were showing, but I have heard through the
horsevine that they were pretty awesome together back in the day. And he still had his charm because a new kid fell in love with him just this past year. Amelia spent some time riding Nugget and he was doing pretty good with it. You know he had issues, don't you? Head-shaking syndrome, they think. Plus he HATED to be outside in the rain. Wouldn't even move. Just put his head down by his hoof and play statue.
He
disliked being around other horses, too. It was so easy to push his
buttons – just look at him too long and he'd get angry. When I was in
the stall next to him, I used to tease him all the time. Now I wish I
had been nicer to him. We don't know how long we get to be with the
humans and horses we love; sometimes it's just way too short of a time.
We need to take advantage of every moment. Nugget, we're gonna miss you. I know you're at the Rainbow Bridge and it's never going to rain there. Hope you're playing with Cassie and Legacy. And tell Barbaro that we still remember him. |
