Nickers and Whinnies – a blog by Pippi

January 24, 2008

I got an e-mail from Buddy! It sounds like he's doing great:

"Hey Pippi,

I finally stole my human's computer to write a quick message. I have been reading about the snow and cold, but I haven't had any snow! I like it down here. My human seems to think that working is good for me, but I would like to disagree. I am perfectly happy to stay here in my stall and eat all day. I have made a couple new friends named Sunset and Rosie, but they don't compare to you guys up there! I miss you all and hope you stay warm!

Love,
Buddy"

Story's in. Now we just need to find out how to get to Barbados.

"I don't know where Barbados is, but if I can relax under a tree, munching sweet hay, let's go!

Cold and snow. Snow and cold. That's my life right now. I need a vacation: Lucky horses on a beach. Wish I was there.

Hay Story, want to go to Barbados?

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Snow, cold, and wind. Sucks to be us.

January 13, 2008

I had such a nice day yesterday. The weather was beautiful and I actually felt like being with my human.  She kept saying that I was a perfect horse — made me feel so proud! Although I may have detected a somewhat sarcastic tone, I decided to ignore that and take her at her word. At least I was nice and clean for her. Not like Story was.

Yep, she heard her human's car coming up the driveway so she decided to have a quick mud bath. And boy she did she do a good job of rolling! Mud was everywhere and still wet, so her human had a heck of a time cleaning her up. It was so funny!

Then we had a trail ride outside and I was very brave. I wanted to go all the way down the driveway to the bridge, but Story wasn't up for it. I was actually the leader, can you believe that?

And I saw something new — I believe they were called little boys. They were very small and smelled very interesting. Both Story and I tried to take a taste. I would think something that small would be tender and juicy, but our humans didn't let us have even a nibble. They were called Kevin and Logan and they sat up on our backs. Kevin even went for a ride with me. I think my human was nervous that I'd misbehave, but I was very good. Would you except anything less from a "perfect" horse?

Got an e-mail from Story. She thinks she's so smart. We'll just see how good she does on her resolution.

"I knew you couldn't keep that resolution.  Snicker, nicker!

I'm going to resolve to 'gently' take treats from my human – that seems achievable. (Well, only if I'm not REALLY starving at the time.)

Broke my resolution. Darn mares, always looking at me.

Happy New Year! Do you have a New Year's Resolution? I do.

I, Pippi Longsox, resolve to be nice to the other horses and pleasant to be around. Since I'm such a sweetie, this should be a piece of cake!
