October 31, 2007 I'm a little upset. The cute young gelding, Zeus, went back to his old home. I was trying to flirt with him and make Bravo jealous, but I barely had a chance to introduce myself over the fence before he was gone. I guess it's for the best, though, I'd hate to get Bravo so enraged that he'd try and fight for me. Although that'd sure be exciting to watch, I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt. Dewey's still here. He seems nice, although he's pretty quiet. He's an Appaloosa, so he's kind of exotic looking. Lot's of white in his coat. My human has been mentioning how my coat is getting speckled with white. I wonder if I'm turning into an Apaloosa? Isn't there a song about that – I think I'm turning Apanese, I think I'm turning Apanese, I really think so. If I turn into an Appie, will I get kicked out of the Paint Horse association? I don't want that to happen. I like belonging to the group that includes Charlie Daniel's horses and Kix Brooks' wife's horse. You never know, I might meet them at a show! Yeah, I like to rub hocks with the famous. |

October 25, 2007 It seems like new horses are being added at Belezaire every day. We've gotten 3 new geldings since Sunday and I have to say that I kind of like it. They're all cute, so I'm very intrigued with them. I know one is staying for sure – Chance is Samatha's new horse. The other two might have to go back; they're just here to be tried out. That would have to be nervewracking. I'm glad my human made the commitment and brought me here to stay. Anyway, I'm not going to be too friendly to those two yet in case they do go back. But if they do stay, one kind of looks like Bravo, but he's younger. So maybe I can make Bravo jealous with a colt, just like he gets me upset when he talks to the fillies! |

October 22, 2007 I have to say that I'm very glad the Halloween Party is over. I had no idea that my human would be in the wash rack right next to me, set up to read everyone's fortune. What a racket – neither Story or I could get any sleep. Just talk, talk, talk for hours. I couldn't see in, but Story could so she was giving me a play-by-play, letting me know who was in there talking to Madame Jillian. You humans sure ask a lot of questions. You could learn a lot from us horses – just go with the flow, life's a lot easier. Khemo, Kirrov, and Stormy said that there was a lot of action over in their area. Lots of kids were screaming as they went through the haunted arena. I think the adult humans were enjoying themselves just a little bit too much scaring the kids. I know I wouldn't have wanted to go through the arena – you humans can be ruthless! |

October 20, 2007 It's Halloween Party Day!!! There's an excitment in the air that's got everyone on edge. The humans are very busy, working on their scary scenarios. I just hope they don't forget to feed us and bring us in for the night. Tonight is not a night to be out. Who knows what's going to happen once darkness falls and the haunting begins? Boooooooooo! |

October 13, 2007 Speaking of awkward, I fell down today while I was loping. Right down on my knee. I got right back up, but I stopped loping because I felt so stupid. Luckily, there wasn't anyone else around to have seen me. My human got off to make sure I was OK, but there was no need. I'm a tough old mare. Except when it comes to oatmeal creme pies. They are delicious!!! I don't know why my human kept them from me all this time, but thank goodness she finally let me have some today. Talk about sweet – Mmmmmmm! Made my lips smack with their goodness. Best. Treat. Ever. |

October 10, 2007 Buddy's got a new home. I didn't realize he was leaving or I would have said good bye. He left with everyone to go to Springfield and when he didn't come back, I got really worried. Even though the slaughter plant is closed, you just never know – you humans can be pretty temperamental. But Bravo told me that Buddy has a new human who picked him up in Springfield and took him to his new home. So we all hope Buddy is very happy and will get lots of carrots and horse treats. Maybe he'll send an e-mail sometime to let us know how he's doing. Good bye, Buddy! We'll miss you. |

October 8, 2007 My human made me very happy. Instead of riding me, she took me out and let me eat grass. I was most appreciative. Grass for grazing is pretty scarce this time of year in the mare's pasture, so it was wonderful to eat mouthful after mouthful after mouthful. Fall grass tastes different than spring grass. It's not as sweet and tender, but it's still tasty. You can taste summer in it – the long hot days, the muggy nights with the crickets chirping, they're all captured in each blade of grass. We'll have to hold on to those memories as the weather gets colder. Yeah, like fall is ever going to come. I'm very tired of the hot weather. Even when I'm doing nothing, I'm still sweating. Makes me cranky. |

October 2, 2007 Excitement's in the air! The Youth Charity Horse Show in Springfield is only a few days away and the kids are putting in lots of hours of practice with their horses. I'm not going since my human is not a kid by any stretch of the imagination, so I can just sit back and watch everyone else's drama unfold. This show is like the Oscars of the horse world so it's a really big deal. Stormy's all excited about going with Eric. I saw those two riding and they looked really good together. Sarah's been practicing a lot with Lexi; she's a really dedicated kid and always puts the time in. Chris and Jax and Kirsten and Bravo are both great teams and should do great. I'm upset that Bravo's going to be gone – I'll miss him. Hope he doesn't meet any young fillies while he's at the show. Taz is worried about going (he doesn't handle change all that well), but his kid, Lauren, is great with him and they'll be fine. And I heard that two of our college students are going – this will be the last Youth Show for Molly and Callie. Hope they both do well, but they will – Merlin and Ebby are pro's. Hay, Callie, Ebby's got quite the Mohawk in his bridal path. Better make sure your clipper blades are sharp! |
